Thorned Heart Press enforces a strict No-AI Policy. We do not accept submissions, manuscripts, cover art, interior illustrations, promotional materials, or editorial content created, assisted, or generated using artificial intelligence technologies.

• Transparent Use of Generative AI: While we understand authors may utilize generative AI during their brainstorming or outlining process, no manuscript submitted to Thorned Heart Press may be written, expanded, translated, or generated using generative artificial intelligence tools (including large language models and text-generation software). Authors should disclose ANY use of AI during submission process.

• Human Authorship Only: All works must be exclusively authored, conceived, and written by human creators.

• Editorial and Design Integrity: Our commitment to human creativity extends to our production process. We rely on professional human editors, proofreaders, and designers rather than automated AI systems.

Transparency Policy: Permitted Assistive Tools

While generative AI is strictly prohibited for writing, Thorned Heart Press recognizes that authors frequently utilize traditional grammar and style-checking software to polish their work. We believe in complete transparency regarding these tools:

• Permitted Assistive Software: Authors are permitted to use standard grammar, spelling, and style assessment tools—such as Grammarly or ProWritingAid—to check punctuation, syntax, passive voice, and readability.

• Human Control and Monitoring: The use of any assistive software must be strictly human-controlled and monitored. Authors retain absolute editorial command over every sentence, ensuring that suggestions are consciously reviewed and implemented by human choice rather than automated batch acceptance.

• Disclosure Requirement: Authors utilizing assistive mechanics should maintain transparency with our editorial team regarding which software tools were used during their self-editing phase.
